We had so much fun! Lukas was an excellent captain and guide. First he provided us with the rain/wet gear we needed to stay comfortable. The boat ride out to where the halibut were was a thrill and beautiful. He took us out right to the fish. He constantly adjusted where the boat was to be over where the fish were. We had so many bites and finally got the trick to hooking and landing. Lukas was on top of the situation but quite, calm, and confident. He's the perfect guide for the experienced fishermen on our boat and me a NOVICE. It was so obvious that he wanted all of us to be successful, and we were.

I had a great trip with Chris on May 3rd 2018. I booked my trip through Princess Cruises. I only had a 3.5 hour trip. While I didn't catch a halibut this was due to the time of year and not Chris's skill. I did catch a nice Pacific cod. I will come back but I will come in July or August next time. It was just great getting out on the water in that awesome boat of yours Chris. Thanks again Chris to you and your crew at baranoff. Glenn Ritter Sebastian, Florida

I was fortunate enough to be able to go out on my own with a guide after a group of four canceled inside of the refund deadline. We tried fishing for salmon in a channel to the southwest, but ran into a pod of orca’s. No fish would be found near them and less it was in their mouth or stomach! LOL. So we turned east and went to another channel where I caught a very small King Salmon. A real cutie! Then we headed south and fished at a depth of 256 feet, bottom jigging for halibut. After about 30 minutes of that, my arms are getting tired and I had not had a bite. We saw a few humpback whales spouting in the distance and many eagles. From there we headed back towards town stopping along the way to do some rock fish jigging. I caught for in pretty short order, returning them all to the sea. Three different varieties of rockfish in fact. We would’ve had better fishing earlier in the season, but it was pretty awesome to be out in great weather in late September. We even saw a deer swimming a channel between islands. It was a black tail Sitka deer. It was swimming slow, but effortlessly. A very unusual sight! I have to highly recommend Baranof. Doing a fishing excursion is the way to go, as you can often see whales and other wildlife like I did while you are fishing or heading from one spot to another. Why just settle for wildlife viewing when you can fish as well?!

Baranof is the place to go for great fishing!

Lucas, Jake and Jack showed me a great time catching Halibut, Salmon, Cod and Rock fish. Each one keeps the trip entertaining with positive vibes and good fishing techniques. They also know where to get the fish!

Found them on Trip advisor. Booking over the Phone was simple and straightforward. I came on a cruise and tendered in Ketchikan. Because the cruise ship was late tendering, I missed the first hour of the trip. I booked as a single passenger as my wife gets sea sick easily. I was expecting to be one of 5 or 6 guests on the boat, but when I arrived at the dock, he said I was the only one scheduled on the boat. So I got a solo trip for the price of a shared boat. Had an amazing time seeing whales and eagles and other wildlife. Caught a halibut, 2 black cod, and 5 salmon, although 3 were too small to keep. I had the fish cleaned and shipped back to California, although the processing fee was a little more than I was quoted. All in all, it was an amazing experience and I would definitely go back. Oh and the sack lunches were great!

We had a successful day, we all caught a Halibut and some Rock Fish. Our guide, Greg was EXCELLENT and very friendly and helpful. He was determined to get us some fish! He stayed out longer than we were scheduled for and we barely made it back to ship in time. :)

We had fish sent back and received on the day we asked. and it was delicious! Would definitely do this again-great guide and company!!!

Highly recommend!!!

Came in on NCL Bliss and did Hunting for Hailibut. Met at the end of the docks by Captain Greg. Booked this excursion for my husband as he has always wanted to go halibut fishing but I think I had just as much fun as he did Captain Greg was terrific. He worked hard to find us great fishing spots. I actually caught the first halibut! Don’t hesitate to book if you want a great fishing experience!
