Baranof & Company owns and operates Baranof Fishing Excursions and the Alaska Fish House Restaurant from our private Marina in downtown Ketchikan, Alaska.
From May to September our world revolves around fish! We serve locally caught seafood in the Alaska Fish House, purchased directly from fisherman who off-load daily at our dock, and we introduce thousands of people each year to fishing halibut, salmon, and rockfish in one of the wildest, most beautiful places on Earth. We strive on all levels of our operation to provide the best possible customer experience to each guest. Baranof Fishing Guide Apprentices are required to have their 6-pack guide license, and be capable of being trained to operate a 20 ft. custom built open boat in a professional and safe manner in the inclement weather of Southeast Alaska. Apprentices should also demonstrate the skill set and enthusiasm to learn to fish for Alaska rockfish, salmon, pacific halibut, and Dungeness crab. Apprentices must be personable and have the ability to provide an enjoyable atmosphere and produce happy guests, even when it's raining sideways and it's just the eagles getting fish.
Baranof Fishing Guides have either proven their fishing skills as an apprentice guide or have five years of saltwater fishing experience in Alaska. Guides must be able to commit to five to six days of work per week, from June 15th to August 15th, and demonstrate extraordinary fishing skills for both bottom fish and salmon. Fishing guides are expected to have a mastery of not only fishing skills, but also a talent to exceed guest expectations on a daily basis.

We are looking for a talented chef to help us launch our new “Cook your Catch” program this season. You'll be working hand in hand with the best fishing guides in the country to bring our guests some of the freshest seafood in the world. You'll be creating recipes, learning our culture, and cooking up a variety of seafood such as halibut, rockfish, king salmon, lingcod, and dungeness crab brought in from right off the boat. It doesn't get any fresher than that!
People come to Ketchikan from all over the world in search of a lasting experience they can't get at home. There's nothing like sitting down to eat the fish you just caught with good friends and family. That’s who we are. And that's why we do what we do.

Tour Coordinators for Baranof must have great customer service and organizational skills. From filling out fishing licenses, taking guest's photos, and matching the perfect guide to each guest, coordinators must add that special Baranof touch to each guest's experience.
Baranof Fishing Excursions operates a remote campsite south of Ketchikan. Each morning begins with an inventory of food and supplies at our marina, followed by a thirty minute skiff ride through the beautiful Southeast Alaska waters to the best "office" in the world. Camp Cooks are responsible for preparing our gourmet bouillabaisse for guests joining us on the Alaskan Fishing & Wilderness Dining Excursion.
